“We are all human beings and we have to stand together against this kind of behaviour.”
For too long, the creative industries have been built on silence and hierarchy. Power has too often been concentrated in the hands of a few, while those at the bottom - most often actors (particularly those in the 98%) are left feeling voiceless. This imbalance is what allows misconduct, exploitation, and abuse to thrive. When fear of being labelled “difficult,” or of being blacklisted keeps people quiet, the cycle continues.
But silence only serves those who misuse power. The truth is: we are stronger together. Speaking up, sharing stories, and demanding better is how change begins. It is never easy - it can feel frightening, isolating, or overwhelming. That’s exactly why The 98% exists: to create a space where actors and creatives can feel heard, supported, and empowered.
If you have experienced bullying, harassment, exploitation, or abuse, you may not know where to turn. But you do not have to navigate this alone.
The aim of The 98% is not just to listen - it’s to empower you with the knowledge, resources, and tools to take your next steps safely and with confidence. We can:
Listen to your story in confidence and help you put words to your experience.
Help you identify red flags and patterns of behaviour.
Signpost you to trusted organisations, campaigns, and resources tailored to your situation.
Support you in deciding what action (if any) feels right for you - whether that’s reporting, seeking legal advice, accessing counselling, or simply feeling validated.
The work of The 98% does not replace or substitute for the guidance of a lawyer, legal advisor, union rep, or official regulator. What I, Alexa, am is someone committed to challenging the culture of silence and helping actors protect themselves. I also work alongside The 98% board members and advisors, who bring specialist knowledge in mental health, sexual violence, workplace harassment, and industry misconduct. Together, we are building something the industry has needed for far too long: a safe, creative-led space where you don’t have to face this on your own.
Every time one person speaks up, learns to recognise red flags, or takes steps to protect themselves and others, the culture of silence loses a little more of its power. Change doesn’t happen overnight - but it does happen when enough people refuse to accept “that’s just how the industry is.”
If you’re here, reading this, you’ve already taken a step. The next one is yours to decide, and The 98% is here to walk with you as you take it.
If you have experienced industry misconduct, read this post on how next steps to take.

Organisations Tackling Industry Misconduct
Below are some platforms, campaigns, and organisations working to expose abuse, protect workers, and push for accountability in the creative industries.
Standards & Accountability
Creative Industries Independent Standards Authority (CIISA) → ciisa.org.uk
A new body dedicated to creating safer workplaces across the UK’s creative industries. CIISA aims to provide a central place to report bullying, harassment, or discrimination, as well as setting out minimum expectations for professional behaviour. Their mission is to ensure that no incident is swept under the carpet and that accountability is finally part of industry culture.
Ending NDAs & Silencing
Can’t Buy My Silence → cantbuymysilence.com
A global campaign to end the misuse of NDAs (Non-Disclosure Agreements) that silence victims, co-founded by Zelda Perkins (the first woman to break an NDA with Harvey Weinstein) and Professor Julie Macfarlane. Can't Buy My Silence recently helped change UK legislation to prevent NDAs from being used to silence victims of workplace harassment or criminal misconduct, ensuring people can seek legal, regulatory, or therapeutic support without fear of repercussions. These reforms mark a major step toward greater transparency, accountability, and protection for survivors.
