Only 2% of actors earn their main source of income from acting. Where is the voice for the other 98%? This is it. What started as a podcast giving a brutally honest voice to the everyday realities of working in the performing arts and entertainment industries has grown into a space that highlights, informs, and supports actors and creatives through the challenges of the profession - including facing malpractice in all corners of the business. The 98% evolved because so many stories had nowhere else to go. Industry bodies often say they cannot regulate, but they also fail to provide preventative guidance, educate actors on what to watch for and how to advocate for themselves, or provide support when needed.
The 98% steps into that gap. We help where possible but, more importantly, we empower. In an industry that too often sweeps these issues under the rug, we cannot solve problems we do not face. The 98% confronts them, shines a light on them, learns from them, and works to stop them - ensuring actors are not alone in navigating the challenges they encounter.
